Prosthetic makeup vs the headscarf on airports

A potential security threat

While scrolling through my social media I came across a popular make-up toturial video featuring Asian women.

Remarkable content, something out of a movie, I thought. At the same time, I came to the realisation that it is actually a mask that they are wearing. Towards the end of the video, the women reveal their final looks, and they look nothing like they did before. They transform completely.

Then I wondered about the occasions women would use this type of make up for? And whether they’d apply it when travelling as well.

They talk about the power of makeup but prosthetics, that’s something out of a sci-fi movie.

How would you know what’s under that type of make up and if a person is wearing that?

It is a serious security threat.

Would it be rude to pull a little on an Asian lady’s face by a customs worker just to see if it’s actually the person she is saying she is? Perhaps just a pinch on the cheek?

Though it can be considered an invasion of privacy or personal space we are talking airport security here. You must take all measures necessary to safeguard and monitor who is travelling in to a country right?

Isn’t that why we are prompted to take laptops out of our bags and put them on one of those trays? Take off our jewellery, shoes and belts when going through those metal ports?

Isn’t safety the reason why those customs workers inspect a Muslim woman’s hijaab? They go all in with their hands behind the earlobes and all.
